e has been hailed as the best and greatest cell phone to ever come out. However, many people feel that the iPhone has many major flaws.

Not Available To All

One of the major iPhone flaws is that it is not available to everyone. This phone is only available to one carrier” AT&T. If the iPhone truly wanted to expand and change the world of cell phones, it would be available to more than just one carrier.

Slow Internet

AT&T only offers one type of internet service to iPhone customers. This is a major iPhone flaw. Other internet providers on other phone networks are much faster and more efficient.

Poor Battery Performance

If you have an iPhone, one of the iPhone flaws is that you will have to send your phone in every year or two to have a new battery replaced. Not only can you not do this yourself, but you will also need to pay to have the battery replaced. Except several days of withdraw from your iPhone while you wait to have the battery replaced!

No Global Positioning System!

Almost every new phone these days has a global positioning system. However, despite the huge price tag, a major iPhone flaw is that it does not have a global positioning system. There are programs, like Google Maps, available, but you have to know exactly where you are to get correct information.

If you choose to purchase an iPhone, make sure you know the iPhone flaws before spending your money.

No Adobe Flash Support

Even though iPhone is a more than capable web device, the biggest drawback as a web device is that the iPhone doesn\’t support Adobe\’s Flash technology, which means many multimedia-rich sites remain off limits. This should be overcome in the future as Adobe is apparently going to make its technology iPhone-friendly. The question is when?

No Video recording

Despite the iPhone\’s built-in two-megapixel camera, Apple didn\’t include video capabilities. This from a company that provides computers preloaded with iMovie and provides video viewing capabilities with most of their iPod range. So if you want to record video, you\’d better talk to Sony!

No multimedia messaging service

There are some things dirt-cheap phones do that the vaunted iPhone cannot. If you want to open an image sent to you via MMS (multimedia messaging service) from one of the dirt-cheap phones then don’t get an iPhone. The deficiency of support for Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS) is one of the most annoying iPhone flaws.

Taking Advantage of Iphone Geo-marketing

iphone 3g
Stefan Hyross asked:

With the worldwide release of Apple’s iPhone 3G this device has become the most sought after smart cell phone ever. Apple has always known that Personal Digital Assistants or PDA would be a power and convenient tool for both business and personal use.  Back in 1993 Apple marketed the Newton but it was not the runaway product hit Apple had hoped it would be. But it looks like Apple’s time has finally come with the iPhone.

Apart from the iPhone’s ease of use and integration of being a PDA, iPod and cell phone all rolled into one, it has some very interesting features that could change the face of local advertising. The iPhone has built into it two types of location tracking. One using cell tower triangulation and the other being GPS or Global Positioning System. And while neither of these technologies are new and have even been built into many other cell phones and smart phones there is one other ingredient that has been missing. Mapping!

The mapping feature used in the iPhone uses GPS or triangulation using cellular towers to plot your location on Google maps.  These mobile maps can be used for directions of course but the really intriguing part is it ability to be used for location based advertising. For instance a person could search for hardware stores closest to them or more interestingly your location could trigger an advertisement from a local business. For example a 2 for 1 deal for glasses at the optician.

So how can a business take advantage of this. Well first of all it has not happened yet. Location-aware advertisements are in in the early stages of being developed but there is a feature that you can leverage today. This is simply the Google local search capability.

If you have ever done a search on Google for a local business you may have noticed that at the top of the results page a small map containing little alphabetized balloons and to the left a list of links to businesses located on that map. This is the Google local search feature and every business should be taking advantage of this.

By visiting Google’s local business centre (www.google.com/local/add/) you are able to add your business location to Google maps. All you will need for this is a Google account, and if you use Gmail you already have one, if not signing-up is easy. Once you have signed-up you just need to fill-in your business address and information including a local phone number. Next you will need to activate your listing. This can be done in one of three ways. You can verify your listing by either phone or SMS (the two quickest) or by mail. After you have been verified your listing should appear in the next few weeks.

But this does not necessarily mean that your business will be in the top results for local listings.  You will still need to optimize your website properly for better rankings, but is a first step to marketing your business locally to both home, but especially, mobile users.

Apple Iphone 3g– Features and Functions

iphone 3g
Pooja Lapasia asked:

The iPods created a stir in the portable music player industry and the same was expected from the iPhone. This smartphone is able to grab eyes for obvious reasons but it is not the device that can do it all. The catchy thing is the sleek designing and the exceptionally good interface. The absolute reliance on the mammoth touch screen is an impressive prospect which works smoothly. The iPhone has superbly tapped on styling and the features are also good enough.

It sports a 2-megapixel camera which takes decent quality pictures. But a high priced phone should have offered a better imaging solution. It doesn’t capture videos but with some third party application additions it will work your way. The display is huge (3.5-inches) and the clarity is appealing, the phone is smart as it detects the way it is held and adjusts the display accordingly. This is possible because of the accelerometer on the screen which detects the screen movement. The iPhone 3G is currently available with specific operators in India priced quite high than in other countries.

The phone is similar to an iPod and has oodles of memory with its 8 GB and 16 GB variants. With this kind of extended memory you need not bother about any expansion slots or memory card hassles. The iPhone has fast internet browsing due to the 3G implant and the Wi-Fi connectivity adds to the appeal. The phone features a virtual keypad for typing and this is better than many clustered QWERTY keypads. But it can also pose a problem, as you can’t type with just one hand. This might be a problem for the frequent messaging users. One can’t forward SMS’s; this will get major thumbs down for the phone but by little fiddling with the software one can avail this function.

The iPhone is a true work of beauty but the features aren’t conventional enough. Restricting to selected networks is also a big glitch as it is limiting its user base naturally. The GPS (global positioning system) is limited to Google maps. So is the Bluetooth connectivity limited to file transfers and not supporting multimedia transfers or A2DP Bluetooth (Advance Audio Distribution Profile) for listening to wireless music. The iPhone couldn’t connect to computer through Bluetooth and requires the iTunes application for its recognition. This again limits your usage of Apple iPhone to different computers, as they need to have the iTunes pre-installed.

The iPhone is no-doubt a stylish marvel but there are quite basic limitations with the phone. The pricing is hefty and you need to install some third party software applications to make it run, as you want it. Nevertheless it is the talk of the town and only iPhone users would know the satisfaction in owning one.
